Hey everyone, my name is Tim Matusiewicz and I've decided to blog about my experiences as a licensed pilot and aviation in general. I began taking flying lessons when I was 14, and received my private pilots license back in May of 2011. Growing up in an Air Force family, I was always surrounded by planes and I loved it. I'm currently an Air Force ROTC student and hope to be selected for Air Force pilot training upon graduating from Penn State. The first time I flew I remember arriving at the airport feeling somewhat uneasy thinking am I going to survive this? I felt even worse walking out onto the general aviation ramp and seeing the crappy 1977 Cessna 152 we were flying that day. My instructor and I hopped in the two seat plane and before I knew it we were rolling down the runway. I pulled back on the control yoke and I felt the wheels leave the ground. Never before had I felt so much adrenaline. We flew around for about an hour and did a couple take offs and landings. Before I knew it we were back on the ground. I knew immediately this is what I wanted to pursue in life, and I returned to the airport a few weeks later to start the actual training for my license. I was convinced it would be easy based on how the first flight went. I quickly realized how wrong I was.
